2018 UP 200 & Midnight Run Sled Dog Race
2016 UP 200 Sled Dog Race
U.P. 200 Sled Dog Race
Be sure to check out the race standings and GPS tracker to see how the mushers are doing. Keep an eye on "our" musher, Liza Dietzen. It will be fun to hear her stories when she comes to our classroom on March 3.
Well, I don't get to go to the Iditarod this year, but that means I am able to get back to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to attend our favorite local race, the UP 200 and Midnight Run. The UP 200 runs 240 miles from Marquette to Wetmore to Grand Marais and back. The mushers will be on the trail from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. The Midnight Run is 90 miles long and runs from Marquette to Chatham and back. Those mushers will be on the trail from Friday night until Saturday morning. Our guest speaker, Liza Dietzen will be racing in the Midnight Run.
This year we volunteered to work a road crossing. Check back later for pictures. In the meantime, here are pictures from the 2014 UP 200 when we were bag checkers.
